 LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE

As an Independent Christian Church we operate under the leadership of Elders, Ministers, and Deacons.

LEAD MINISTER

Carl grew up in New Lenox, Illinois and graduated from Lincoln Christian College in 1995 with a B.A. in World Missions. He was raised in a Restoration Movement church, and from an early age developed a love for the Word, the church, and for ministry. By the time he was in high school he had also developed a passion for families to display the glory of God. He brings those loves and that passion here to Mountain View Church of Christ, with a desire for God to use him through the preaching of the Word to help families and the church display the glory of God and spread the love of Jesus. His interests include studying the Bible, reading, playing table games, car shows, healthy eating, and anything outdoors.

Janet was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She came to know the Lord her freshman year at Oregon State University where she received her BA in Education. She later earned an MA in Music Ministry and has done mission work in Madagascar, Austria, Poland and Romania. Since getting married, she has been a home school mom and housewife and now a Gramma. Her interests include crafts, sewing, playing table games, and flower gardening.

Nadia was adopted from Romania in the year 2000. From the age of five she has wanted to be a missionary, hopefully back to her home country of Romania. She has a deep interest in the cultures, peoples, and languages of the world and has become fluent in Romanian. Her other interests include beadwork, playing table games, hunting and fishing, vegetable gardening, and anything outdoors.

They also have two sons. Micah, their natural born son, lives in Lancaster Illinois with his wife Birdie and their son Harrison. Micah is a plumber and also plays drums for their church praise band. Their youngest son, Joel, was also adopted from Romania and now lives in Canton Georgia. He is a musician, a cook, and a welder.

History

Mountain View Church of Christ (Christian) is located in a rural community 5 miles south of Maryville, Tennessee near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. We learn about the Word by studying the Bible.

The ministry of MVCC is to spread God's word through example, love and prayer. We believe that each person can share in this ministry by giving of their unique gifts to others. We welcome guests to join us in worship and song each week.

The first Mountain View Church of Christ (Christian) building was completed in 1906 and the church was formally organized in October, 1907. From the beginning, faithfulness to the preaching and teaching "the whole counsel of God" was very important.

During the early years most of the preachers were students who came from Johnson Bible College in Knoxville on the weekends to teach and to preach. Around 1930 James Spencer Holland was hired as the first continuous minister of the church while still a student at the college. He served as the minister for 23 years.

The present building was built in 1955 on the former Christy Hill School property.
